About Thomas E. Beeman

An accomplished health care executive who has led as president and CEO of Lancaster General Health in Pennsylvania and St. Thomas Health System in Tennessee, Thomas E. Beeman has also distinguished himself in leadership roles in the United States Navy. Prior to his retirement in 2016, Thomas E. Beeman attained the rank of rear admiral, drawing on his combined military and health care experience to serve as assistant deputy surgeon general for reserve integration in the Medical Service Corps.

Mr. Beeman’s Navy career also saw him serving as deputy commander of the Navy Medical National Capital Area and deputy commander of the National Intrepid Center of Excellence at the National Naval Medical Center, among other assignments. A decorated officer, he is the recipient of three Legion of Merit medals, two Navy Commendation Medals, a Navy Achievement Medal, and a Meritorious Service Medal.

Thomas E. Beeman has similarly garnered accolades outside of the military. Under his direction, Lancaster General Health, a nonprofit system, and St. Thomas Health System, a faith-based care provider, each earned recognition among the best hospitals in the country. Currently an executive-in-residence at both Penn Medicine and Saint Joseph’s University, Mr. Beeman has shared insights gleaned over the course of his career in books such as Health Care Leadership Strategies and Leading from Within.
